Friday Roundup: Favorable Compensation, Actual Innocence Bills

Florida’s Governor signed a bill that will award Florida exoneree William Dillon $1.35 million for serving nearly 27 years for a murder DNA proves he didn’t commit.
 
A bipartisan bill in Wisconsin that would grant greater compensation to the wrongfully convicted is under review after a hearing Thursday.
 
A Utah bill that says a judge must review all evidence, including previously omitted and new evidence, when determining if someone is factually innocent, was passed by a Senate Judiciary, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice committee last week.
 
An op-ed in the Times-Picayune insists that public confidence in prosecutors and police are crucial to a functioning criminal justice system.
