Wednesday in Boston: How DNA Testing Sparks Reform

At an event Wednesday in Boston, Innocence Project Policy Director Stephen Saloom will discuss how post-conviction DNA testing has revolutionized the criminal justice system over the past 20 years and ushered in an era of progressive criminal justice reforms — from eyewitness identification procedures to recording interrogations and more.
Saloom will also highlight the Innocence Project's legislative efforts in Massachusetts and explore why the state still lags behind the rest of the nation in providing access to DNA testing. Massachusetts is one of just three states without a post-conviction DNA access law, and a recent report from the Boston Bar Association called on lawmakers to address this issue.
The event is sponsored by the Harvard Law School chapter of the American Constitutional Society, and will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the John Chipman Gray Room on the second floor of Pound Hall at Harvard Law School. The event is open to the public and free pizza will be provided.
