Special Prosecutor Appointed to Court of Inquiry in Morton Case

Houston attorney, Rusty Hardin, was named special prosecutor to the Court of Inquiry into potential misconduct of former Williamson County District Attorney Ken Anderson today. The Texas Supreme Court ordered the Court of Inquiry last month at the request of Morton’s attorneys, including the Innocence Project, in order to investigate allegations that Anderson illegally withheld evidence of Michael Morton’s innocence of the 1987 murder of his wife, Christine. Morton was exonerated through DNA evidence in December 2011.
