On Friday, the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Departments of Criminal Justice and Psychology will host “Justice Miscarried: Convicting the Innocent,” the 2012 New York State Wrongful Conviction Conference. The conference explores the question: What can be done to reduce the number of wrongful convictions? Guest speakers include New York exoneree Steven Barnes, Innocence Project Co-Founder Peter Neufeld, and Innocence Project Eyewitness Identification Fellow Karen Newirth. While the conference is based in New York, the issues and strategies addressed will be relevant to a national audience.
