Maryland Man Blames Prosecutorial Misconduct for Wrongful Conviction

A Maryland man who spent two decades behind bars for a murder DNA proves he did not commit filed a $15 million lawsuit against Baltimore police and prosecutors claiming they intentionally suppressed exculpatory information in his case, reported The Baltimore Sun.
James L Owens, Jr. was convicted along with another man in 1988 on the strength of a witness who changed his story many times and a jailhouse informant who was given special treatment for testimony claiming that Owens had confessed to him. Twenty years into a life sentence, DNA testing proved that blood and semen from the crime scene excluded both men.
