Development Assistant
The Innocence Project is a not-for-profit organization that works to exonerate innocent prisoners through post-conviction DNA testing, and to develop and implement policy changes to prevent wrongful convictions and otherwise reform the criminal justice system. We are seeking a full-time Development Assistant to join our Development Team. The Development Assistant plays an important role in supporting and participating in all aspects of the Innocence Project’s fund raising efforts.
Reporting to the Director of Development and working closely with the Assistant Director of Donor Services, the Development Assistant will be a self-starter, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while proactively anticipating needs within the department. The Development Assistant provides administrative support for all members of the development team, in particular the Development Director. S/he plays an integral role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the department. This position presents an excellent opportunity for exposure to all aspects of a growing development department.
Responsibilities:
· Enter all gifts in Sage FR50 donor database, ensuring accuracy and accountability;
· Generate donor acknowledgments in a timely manner;
· Create weekly donation summary reports using Excel and Sage reports;
· Maintain all electronic and paper files;
· Manage department calendar and meetings;
· Research funding opportunities;
· Assist in preparation, editing, and coordination of development-related mailings;
· Coordinate timely processing of departmental accounting forms and track expenses;
· Coordinate internal and external department meetings;
· Provide support to the Director of Development, including managing calendar, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements;
· Provide other administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
· Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to details and deadlines.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word (mail merge), Excel (formulas), Outlook (calendar management)
· Experience with a donor database; knowledge of Sage FR50 preferred.
· Experience assisting executive level staff and organizing schedules.
· Proactive self-starter, able to work independently;
· 1 year minimum work experience in an administrative role.
· Interest in fundraising and development.
· Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Innocence Project.
