DNA Testing Ordered for Innocence Project Client

Scott Oliver has spent two decades in Pennsylvania prisons for a rape and murder that he has always maintained he didn't commit, and new DNA test results obtained by the Innocence Project provide strong evidence that he's telling the truth. At the end of March, a judge ordered further testing in the case. The Innocence Project, together with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, represents Oliver.

Oliver was convicted in 1991 of the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl, and DNA tests on samples collected from the girl’s autopsy point to a man other than Oliver. The Innocence Project filed a motion in January seeking additional testins to resolve any doubts about Oliver’s innocence. On March 26, Pennsylvania Judge Leonard Zito ordered additional testing on the girl’s bra, underwear and sweatshirt, which have been preserved since trial.
