Social Work Intern
The Innocence Project is seeking an Intern for the Social Work division of the legal department. The Social Work Intern will report to the Social Work Director.
We are seeking a graduate or undergraduate student interested in doing work to help exonerees transition to life outside of prison. The student need not be enrolled in a social work program, but should have an interest in providing assistance to exonerees, mostly through computer and telephone research.
Time Commitment:
The Social Work Intern should be available for 10-15 hours per week starting Fall 2009.
Responsibilities:
The social work intern assists the social workers in their efforts to help exonerees (IP's clients who have been exonerated after an average of 12 years wrongfully incarcerated) transition from prison to life after incarceration. This may include researching available services for clients in their locations around the country (i.e., medical, dental, mental health, education, housing and job training), making referrals to clients either directly or indirectly through the social workers, talking to clients on the telephone, updating the reentry resource directory, assisting with logistics for computers donated to clients and helping on other projects related to exonerees as needed .

-Comfortable on computer, including creating and editing Excel documents
