Research Analyst
The Innocence Project, a not-for-profit organization that works to exonerate innocent prisoners through post-conviction DNA testing and to develop and implement policy changes to prevent wrongful convictions and otherwise reform the criminal justice system, seeks a Research Analyst to support our efforts to effectively address the causes and remedies of wrongful convictions in the United States criminal justice system.
An integral part of the Policy Department, the Research Analyst will serve as the source of information for all staff, laypersons and website.
This includes providing clear information about:
• The technical aspects and emerging developments related to all innocence-related reforms and policies;
• The weaknesses of various forensic evidence processes;
• Methods to improve probative value and reduce prejudicial effect of forensic evidence in justice system;
• Understanding the technical aspects of all existing innocence-related policy issues;
• Monitoring forensic issues – not policies, but issues needing attention - in every state and devising a method of keeping staff constantly apprised of developments and implications on all fronts (i.e. crime lab oversight, crime lab backlogs, standards of admissibility of forensic evidence, where sequential/double-blind eyewitness ID procedures are employed, what jurisdictions record interrogations, exonerations, etc.); and
• Understanding all federal government programs dealing with forensics and innocence-related issues
Importantly, the Research Analyst will be expected to engage with advocates and policymakers on these issues as well.

• Translate complex information into clear, concise written and oral information;
• Rapidly learn new subjects;
• Remain organized amidst multiple, competing demands;
• Understand scientific processes;
• Relate well to different types of people; and

Advanced degree and/or three years post-college work experience required. The salary is competitive and the benefits are excellent.
